Associate Board Member Vacancy

We are excited to again be able to offer a governance development opportunity for a member of Rural Women New Zealand – to become an Associate Board Member. The role was established as part of our commitment to supporting leadership development for women in rural communities, by providing an opportunity to build an understanding of governance and leadership within the charitable sector.

Our outgoing Associate Board Member, Heather McKay, has learned enormously from the experience, and the perspective and skills she has brought to the Board table have been invaluable.

Heather is happy to connect with anyone interested in applying who would like to understand more about the opportunity.

This role is perfect for members who do not have Board-level experience but want to develop their knowledge and skills. It is not a member elected Board position, and has no associated voting rights, however the Associate Board Member will play a full role in Board and Committee meetings. The successful candidate will be appointed for a one-year term. While the role is not remunerated, they will be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses.

To apply please send a cover letter explaining why you are interested in this opportunity, and a CV outlining your relevant experience and skills to board@ruralwomennz.nz

Applications close at 5pm on 14 November 2025.

The successful candidate is expected to be announced in early December.

If this sounds like you, please put your name forward! We are looking forward to hearing from our wonderful emerging leaders out there.
