International Rural Women’s Day

Today is International Rural Women's Day, a time to celebrate the incredible contribution rural wāhine make to our families, communities and industries every day.

We also wanted to acknowledge the many roles and responsibilities, both seen and unseen, that rural women carry. Maria Kalman's poem 'Women Holding Things' captures this beautifully, reminding us of the countless things women hold throughout their lives.

Voiced by our National President, Heather Sorensen, this video offers a glimpse into the many things rural women hold each day. We invite you to watch, reflect, and share what you're holding too.

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who contributed to this video 🧡
